Going to Brazil and seeing myself reflected in the culture is so mind blowing but also so self assuring. Brazil is filled with people from the African diaspora. For so long colonization, European beauty standards, and the end of slavery have impacted the way that Black people present themselves. In Brazil, it feels the complete opposite.
