The ACHP is proud of its role in preserving the Pentagon in Arlington, VA, one of the nation's largest office buildings and home to the Department of War, through the Section 106 review process. Following the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001, when the west side of the Pentagon was struck by a hijacked airliner, the then-Department of Defense (DoD) was responsible for conducting the Section 106 process to reconstruct the damaged section. Through consultation between the DoD, National Trust
