Nov 18, 2012 · Jotul F 600 My question still is are these tubes and baffle really necessary? The wood stove is in very good shape and seems to be running well without them. Lots more room in the stove too.

Jun 21, 2012 · The new Jotul F500 Oslo wood stove comes with the vermiculite board and insulation blanket installed. There may be a year or serial number break where Jotul switched from the cast iron baffle to the vermiculite board and insulation blanket for this stove.
Wood heater/fireplace without baffle plate - Arborist, Chainsaw
Jul 26, 2014 · To cut a long question short and without it becoming too incoherent: Is it okay to have my fire operating without the baffle plate in there? (I'm pretty sure that's the name of it, almost 100% certain) I removed it to clean the build up of soot, etc and found that I'm able to fit A LOT more wood in the heater with it removed.

Jan 15, 2014 · Faulty retaining pins for the baffle and just poor design seemed to be at fault, however, these reviews are all several years old and I'm curious if Jotul redesigned or modified these stoves in recent years to remedy this problem with the baffle? It's a sharp looking stove, I'd sure like to hear from anybody familiar with these newer 118's.
Wondering if it would be wise to cut out baffle inside firebox?
Oct 8, 2011 · That baffle plate is there to stop the top of the fire box from burning out and to stop the top of the heater from over heating.Ie glowing red hot. If your gonna put a flue on top you'll need the baffle plate to stop all the heat and flames going up the flue too.

Aug 1, 2017 · The stove does a decent job if you know how to use it. It's in the center of our house with a masonry chimney that is lined with steel, so once the brickwork heats up you don't need to run it so hot and just maintain a small fire and coal bed.
