Feb 14, 2018 · I've never done it, but you should be able to use MSG instructions in the 5/05 to read tags out of the CompactLogix processors. I have used a MSG instruction to transfer data between ControlLogix processors whose supported firmware versions were too far apart for produce-consume tags to be set up. That worked well.

Jun 10, 2024 · Pass the condition from Safety PLC to the regular PLC and have it do the flashing logic. This way allows for more flexibility in conditions and control over the output. You will need to pass your safety Light ON condition via Exposed variables. Map the Safety Exposed variable to a variable on the PLC side and then use in your logic as needed.

I've seen application code that manipulates the .RemoteElement of the MSG control tag, which allows read and write access to Program-Scoped tags.

When back on site you don't need to download complete code (stopping the PLC) you can download offline copy/changes while PLC running. Jan 30, 2019 · The way you may get around this is to store all of your outputs in INT tags continuously in order to save their operating value. Upon return from power up or run mode, you would use the first scan bit to copy from those storage registers into your output registers effectively restoring the output word values to your outputs.

Apr 17, 2008 · Our tags are very simple: Events(10) INT eg. Machine Faults, Power, Safety Guards Data(7) INT eg. Cycle Times, Force Measurements, Pass/Fail Acknowledgements(5) INT eg.
