We went through a lot of idea's, ones we knew would never work but sort of, an evolution of "why" godzilla is. Turns out he is just because he is! Gareth was fantastic and had a lot of input in where the final design went and I spent many hours with him in zbrush getting that look to a point where the vfx guys could go and make him sing.
