GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A vigil was held Wednesday night for 12-year-old Shamiya Stewart, who died from her injuries Monday after she was rescued from a burning home on Saturday.

The charge, which alleges arson and the killing of Shamiya Stewart, is punishable by life in prison without parole upon conviction. Becker announced the additional charge on Wednesday, Jan. 29.
