As O'Beirne points out, once the update is released for all Apple Maps users, Italy, San Marino, and Vatican City will be the seventh, eighth, and ninth countries added to Apple's revamped Apple Maps.

Google's Map Maker service lets people add valuable local details to Google Maps so they can be constantly improved.

Following a test of new maps in parts of Italy, Vatican City, and San Marino, Apple has now added Andorra, and also officially released the features to all Apple Maps users in these areas.

Italy, which surrounds Vatican City, the spiritual home to the world's 1.1 billion Catholics, boasts more than 30,000 churches and sanctuaries, according to the country's Ministry of Culture.
