Gmail is now rolling out a new user interface that will show Chat and Meet sections in the side pane by default — unless you’ve already disabled them.

To edit the screen and remove Chat and Meet, you tap on the Gmail settings button, find the “Apps in Gmail” section and click Customize. A pop-up will show that lets you uncheck Chat and Meet.
