Shabbona Lake State Park boasts more than 1,500 acres of prairie land and a 318-acre man-made fishing lake.

The Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation of Kansas says an 1829 treaty it signed with the U.S. government still is valid, and 1,280 acres in and around Shabbona Lake State Park are rightfully theirs.
