Sears Holdings plans to close 63 more money-losing stores as the department-store chain tries to stem the bleeding from its long-running decline in sales.

More than 100 Kmart and Sears stores will close by the end of 2019 and more closures are expected to continue into early 2020.

After declaring bankruptcy and being acquired by Transformco in 2019, the number of Sears stores in America would deplete throughout the years, with the latest closures happening at the end of 2024.

The last-standing Sears in the New York area is shutting down, bringing the 138-year-old department store's US footprint down to a measly 12 locations.

But now, one abandoned Sears location is getting a facelift. A long-vacant former Sears store in Mesquite, Texas will soon be occupied by popular family entertainment center Main Event.
