Superstar athletes Cristiano Ronaldo and LeBron James took to social media Thursday to pay their respects to Liverpool soccer star Diogo Jota following his death.

Liverpool and Portuguese international soccer player Diogo Jota and his brother, André Silva, were killed in a car accident early Thursday morning in Spain. The cause of the accident is not entirely clear,

Jota was a celebrated soccer player, spending the last five seasons with Liverpool. He helped lead the team to a Premier League title during the 2024-25 season. He also starred with Portugal, helping the team beat rival Spain in a penalty shootout in his final match in June.
