Spring – delayed by weeks by the cold winter in some parts of Britain – has now begun to burst into life and Daily Telegraph readers have been sending in their photographs of the new season.

Over 14,000 photos were submitted, with the entries in the final reckoning including pictures of flowers in Vietnam, a chick being fed in Bangladesh and a dreamy Tuscan landscape.
