In 1990 thieves disguised as police stole 13 artworks from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Their empty frames have been restored and remain as stark reminders of the unsolved art heist.

BOSTON (WHDH) - An empty frame hangs on the wall of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum — part of a new restoration project. The painting once held in that frame was stolen in a now-infamous heist.
