The Sacramento Kings on Monday officially announced Mike Woodson will be the team’s associate head coach, bringing more than 40 years of experience as an NBA player and coach to the new role.

Mike Woodson is returning to the NBA. Woodson, 67, will head back to the league with the Kings after spending the last four years as the head coach at Indiana before stepping down after last season.

Woodson was an assistant and head coach in the NBA from 1996 to 2021 before joining Indiana. Woodson played in the NBA from 1980 to 1991, including a four-year stint with the Kings from 1982 to 1986.

Woodson, an 11-year NBA veteran, will now join Christie’s staff in Sacramento. Christie was named the team’s interim head coach after the Kings fired head coach Mike Brown in December.
