The 2024 BMW X5 M Competition is the M version of the X5, and it’s a worthy product of the Bavarian automaker’s performance division.

Just like the standard versions, the 2024 BMW X5 and X6 M Competition models have been lightly refreshed. The styling and interiors have been updated, and the powertrain now has hybrid assist.

BMW says the 2024 X5 M Competition will start at $123,295, including a $995 destination charge. The 2024 X6 M Competition is a bit more expensive, with a starting price of $128,195.

Rather than comparing the X5 M and X6 M to their competition, this review compares the two performance BMWs to see which is the best overall package. Mechanically, the duo are virtually identical.

Like its X6 M Competition counterpart, the X5 M Competition rides on 21-inch wheels up front and 22-inch wheels in the back. Non-Competition models can get the staggered wheels as an option.

As expected, the X5 M and X6 M look all muscled up compared to their lesser variants — though it’s worth noting the regular versions of the all-new X6 hasn’t even been revealed by BMW.

The X5 M should have the same engine as the M5 version, with 600 HP normally or 625 HP in this Competition configuration. Juicy!
