Orlando Mayorquin was an intern in 2021 on the Los Angeles Times’ COVID-19 obituary project, which commemorates those who lost their lives to the virus in California.

Mayorquin said the couple doted on their young son and always waved at neighbors. “I just met him this weekend, and he didn’t seem like an angry guy,” Mayorquin said of the victim.

Rafael Clark, 39; Bodden Wellington, 47; Mario Lopez, 25; and Marvin Mayoquin, 23, all of the Bronx were charged with assault. Wellington also was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
