WASHINGTON (AP) — Comedian, talk show host and political influencer Jon Stewart has been named the 23rd recipient of the Kennedy Center’s Mark Twain Award for lifetime achievement in comedy.

The ceremony for the Mark Twain Prize, one of comedy’s top honors, celebrated Mr. Stewart’s achievements on “The Daily Show” and his activism on behalf of veterans and 9/11 emergency workers.
