SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- Independence Air makes its debut Wednesday on the Nasdaq Stock Market, capping a year-long transformation from a regional jet carrier to a fledgling low-fare airline.

The plane's the same, but the name's different for the operator of Independence Air, a low-cost carrier that recently launched service at Albany International Airport.

Independence Air has announced it will discontinue flights at 7 p.m. this Thursday. The low-cost carrier is shutting down less than 19 months after taking to the skies.
