Thieves hit a French Quarter art gallery for the third time in two years. The owner says rampant crime is making it difficult to operate in the city. It's a sentiment shared by so many others.

French Quarter gallery blames 'city's unsafeness' as reason it will permanently close. Data from the Metropolitan Crime Commission shows that certain crimes are on the rise in the 8th District.

Like the art, the building has long bridged both uses and eras, offering a continuum. It is a mixed bag, with its front dating back to 1800 and its back from the 1940s or 1950s.
