Drought-stricken governments in west-central Kansas have escalated their fight for water rights from state to federal court, which could impact how cities across the state handle future disputes.

Tuesday night storms hit much of the state, but eastern sections saw strong enough conditions to generate two individual tornadoes, the NWS reports.

Northwestern Kansas saw some strong winds Monday night, which resulted in some damage to a car wash and a nearby vehicle.
