LINCOLN, Neb. — Herbie is the pride and joy of the Cornhusker nation, and in 1996, a former high school mascot became the first female to don the red hat-wearing costume.

The new Herbie Husker is inspired by the original version — embracing the Cornhusker tradition and Nebraska's agricultural background — and celebrates the 50th year of the logo and mascot.
