The man from The Athletic giving details of the two bids Newcastle United have now made to sign Anthony Elanga. Ornstein saying that an offer of £45m was made on Tuesday (24 June 2024) and turned down by Nottingham Forest.

Elanga joined Forest from Manchester United in 2023 for £15 million. A key part of Forest’s attack, he has 11 goals in 83 club appearances and four goals in 21 caps for Sweden. His speed, versatility, and performance under Nuno have made him a target for Newcastle, but for now, Forest are holding firm.

Newcastle tried to snap up the 23-year-old last summer and made a last-ditch play for him on deadline day. They put forward a cash-plus-player £45m package made up of an initial £30m payment, two further £5m payments and Miguel Almiron, according to The Athletic.
