(ANSA) - ROME, APR 23 - The imam of Rome's Great Mosque said Wednesday that he would attend Pope Francis's funeral in St Peter's Saturday saying the late Argentine pontiff had been his "brother".

If he accepts, Francis would be the first pope to visit the mosque. He received the invitation on Wednesday (Jan. 20) during a short audience he gave to Muslim community leaders at the Vatican.
