Then, after wandering in the desert for a decade with the notoriously cheap Cardinals, Williams finally reached his breaking point: 10 seasons, 10 losses a year (on average), one playoff win.

And at No. 59, former Rams DB Aeneas Williams was Solak’s selection, going with the former Cardinals draft pick as the obvious choice at that spot.

No Cardinals draft picks made the cut in Round 1, although defensive lineman J.J. Watt, who played his final two NFL seasons for the Cardinals, was the player chosen for the 11th pick in the draft.

His role, though, is inherently limited. The Cardinals have two standout safeties in Budda Baker and Jalen Thompson, plus an excellent nickel in Garrett Williams. Playing time is hard to come by.
