Opinion - The Ethiopian flag contains the universally recognised tri-colours (green, yellow, and red). Different regimes have always embellished it with emblems that define their political ideology.
Obviously, the flag remains a symbol of patriotism and nationalism,and it has, for Ethiopia, been a beacon of freedom as the nation has never been tested the tyrannous times of the colonial era.
An international incident of sorts arose over an Ethiopian flag raising at San Jose City Hall to honor the African country’s New Year, which begins on Sept. 11.
