Aiken County’s parks and recreation centers have countless amenities, form state-of-the art indoor sports facilities to rugged hiking trails and rural camping areas.

Parks and recreational offerings in Aiken County include Smith-Hazel Park, Riverview Park, H. Odell Weeks Activities Center/Virginia Acres Park, Gregg Park and the Greeneway.

Gel-based blaster water guns are now banned across parks in the city of Aiken. The battery-operated toy can fire off quick rounds of water or gel pellets.

Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Aiken, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

"We do a good job at offering unique, niche programming in our parks. Although Aiken County is known for equestrian activities, there are a lot of people that may not know where to get started.
