Celebrated TV series composer Mark Snow has died aged 78.

Snow, born Martin Fulterman in New York, grew up in Brooklyn. In the 1960s, he started the band Emil and the Detectives with his roommate at the Juilliard School, Michael Kamen, who would go on to work with Pink Floyd and become a movie composer known for films like “Die Hard” and “Lethal Weapon.”

Mark Snow, best known as the game-changing composer for "The X-Files," has died. Variety reports the composer died at his home Friday in Connecticut. He was 78. Snow was a 15-time Emmy nominee, and six of those nominations were for the 200-plus episodes of "The X-Files" he scored.
