A winter storm warning in place for the tristate region. Six to 9 inches of snow is possible in upstate New York, with 10 inches possible in the Hudson Valley. Five to 8 inches is forecast for northern New Jersey, while Hartford, Connecticut, could get about 4 inches.
New Year’s Eve forecast: Parts of upstate New York could get several feet of snow from clipper storm
Ultimately, areas that receive persistent lake effect snow in the coming days are forecast to receive about 1 to 2 feet of snow on average, Dombek said; local amounts could even exceed 3 feet. Residents should expect the New Year’s Eve clipper to clear out by Thursday morning.
Heavy lake-effect snow settled across southern Oswego and northern Cayuga counties in New York Friday morning, creating difficult travel conditions.
New York’s minimum wage is set to increase effective Jan. 1. Starting on that date, the minimum wage statewide will increase by 50 cents an hour. In New York City, Westchester County and on Long Island, it will rise to $17 an hour. In the rest of the state, including the Syracuse area and Upstate New York, it will increase to $16 an hour.
