The new area code will be 912 and will serve parts of southeastern Georgia, according to the Georgia Public Service Commission.

Starting on Oct. 24, callers in 82 area codes across 35 states and one U.S. territory will be required to use their area code when making local calls.

The state’s 360 and 564 numbers are overlay codes, according to the administration’s map. The 360 code was implemented in 1995 over the 206 code, according to area code website AllAreaCodes.com .

The 729 area code will be introduced in the 423 area code zone centered around Johnson City and Bristol to the north and Chattanooga to the south.
