Earlier this year, the UFC announced that they had designed a new glove in an attempt to reduce the amount of eye pokes and lacerations. They then debuted the new design at UFC 302.

The UFC even attempted to address the matter in 2024 by implementing a new style of glove, but those gloves have already been phased out, and with that a consistent amount of eye pokes remains.
