JOHN Swinney has written to the patriarch of Jerusalem to express his “profound sorrow” at an Israeli attack which injured a priest he knows.

According to authorities, anti-Catholic and antisemitic graffiti was found last week on a statue of the Virgin Mary, a plaque on the bell tower, and the door of a former convent building.
