Spyro Gyra is on the cusp of another career milestone as they head into the band's 50th year as one of the hardest touring bands in contemporary jazz.
Spyra Gyra debuted on Amherst Records in 1977 and was co-founded by Jay in 1974. Their single in 1979, “Morning Dance,” reached #11 in the UK and #27 on Billboard’s Top 200 Chart.
Although “Morning Dance” is their biggest mainstream hit to date, hitting the top 20 on the UK Singles Chart in 1979, the band is still releasing music that scores critical acclaim today.
