Three children were taken to the hospital after their school bus was involved in a crash with a pickup truck Thursday afternoon.

Five children on board a South Haven Public Schools bus were hurt in a crash late Thursday morning.

News Channel 3 spoke to Kevin Schooley, the superintendent for South Haven Public Schools, who said dealing with a bus driver shortage is a constant struggle.

"Our immediate priority is to ensure the safety of the students," says the superintendent's office at South Haven Public Schools of an incident that led to the dismissal of a substitute Tuesday.

Students at South Haven High School were evacuated after someone noticed a strong odor of natural gas in the building.
