My Nest Protect smoke and carbon monoxide detector had a false alarm at 1:30 a.m. As it turns out, they aren't that uncommon. Here's what you can do.

As you can see in the photo above, Nest is trying to do for smoke detectors what it's already done for thermostats. Which is to say, it's trying to take a mundane household object and make it sexy.

Nest brings crisp design and smart features -- connected and otherwise -- to the humble smoke detector. You don't absolutely need the Nest Protect, but it's fine to admit you want one.
