SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - A bus driver involved in a crash on the UC Santa Cruz campus two weeks ago has died, according to the union representing Santa Cruz Metro workers.
The Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District's Board of Directors unanimously voted to buy 57 hydrogen-powered, fuel-cell electric buses that will largely serve the Watsonville area.
Metro has funding to establish one station in Santa Cruz and is planning to build another in Watsonville at some point soon. Both bus varieties have a roughly 12-year lifespan.
