REDLAND City Council has announced it will extend funding for the Macleay Island Community Library for an additional three years after statistics showed there was a need for literacy support.

South East Queensland's islands will be the first pieces of land to bear the impacts of Tropical Cyclone Alfred. Many of its residents are evacuating and heading west.
