As a rookie, Clowney had played in 23 games for Brooklyn and 34 for the Long Island Nets in the NBA Gatorade League. With Long Island, Clowney averaged 15.6 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.8 blocked shots.

Clowney has never logged a double-digit sack campaign, but he has recorded nine or more sacks four times, most recently tallying 9.5 with the Baltimore Ravens two years ago.

Stewart finished the 2024 season with 6.5 sacks and three forced fumbles. A player who finished with similar numbers his freshman season was Jadeveon Clowney, who tallied eight sacks in 2011.

While Stewart would have to double his production in 2025 to tie Clowney's record, the Gamecocks believe the defensive EDGE has only tapped into his potential.

But Clowney disappointed in the sacks departure, so the Seahawks allowed the defensive end to leave in free agency. Since 2020, the veteran edge rusher has become a journeyman.

Bringing Clowney back would arguably give the Seahawks the best five-deep edge rotation in the league - starting with DeMarcus Lawrence at the top, then Uchenna Nwosu and Boye Mafe and Derick Hall.
