The Permaisuri Zarith Sofiah Opera House was once mooted as a potential cultural hub in Johor. However, performances at the venue have received mixed responses since its reopening post COVID-19.

Pontian police chief Superintendent Mohammad Shofee Tayib confirmed a Chinese association’s temple along Jalan Kukup there was investigated for accidentally flying the Johor state flag upside down.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk M. Kumar said the incident occurred on Oct 20 during an event in Taman Sentosa, though the flag-waving took place inside a shopping mall at the site.
