Memphis Grizzlies star Jaren Jackson Jr., who signed a five-year, $240 million max extension on Monday, sustained a turf toe injury while playing off-site of the team's facility and will need a surgical procedure to repair the injury, according to a report from NBA insider Chris Haynes.

Just one day removed from signing a five-year max extension with the Memphis Grizzlies, former Michigan State star and the 2023 NBA Defensive Player of the Year, Jaren Jackson Jr., has undergone surgery on a turf toe injury in his right foot that he apparently suffered playing basketball this recently.

“BREAKING: The Memphis Grizzlies and All-Star Jaren Jackson Jr. are expected to agree on a five-year, $240 million maximum renegotiation-and-extension, sources tell ESPN,” Shams Charania said in a post. “Head of CAA Basketball Austin Brown and CAA agent Max Saidman negotiated the new agreement with the Grizzlies.”
