The card includes a photo, membership number and name and membership type. Some membership cards have a star on them. Costco cards never counted as a REAL ID, and you were never able to travel on one.

REAL ID cards are available from the motor vehicle departments in the 50 states, including the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. You must apply in person in order to get a REAL ID card.

Real ID compliant cards feature a gold star in the upper right corner of the card. While those who don't have a compliant card, it will say "NOT FOR FEDERAL ID" in the upper right corner.
