The inaugural Carriker Chronicles Football Camp took place in Lincoln yesterday and was host to over 250 youth football players from around the state.

LINCOLN — Jay Terry hadn’t exactly performed any crash tests when deciding which helmets to purchase for the Nebraska football team.

Random fact: As the myth goes, the Nebraska helmet used to have an "NU" on it. But, before the 1970 season, there were not enough "U" stickers, so they just went with an "N" on the helmet.

As they're required to do each year, organizers of the Middlefield Youth Football League, which fields three teams and about 60 8- to 12-year-old players, had sent 50 helmets off to be reconditioned.
