For 34 years, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools’ talking school bus has taught bus safety to more than 670,000 children. Many are now old enough to see their own children meet Gus.
In the early 1980s, Gus the Bus, with his goofy grin and cartoonlike eyes, was cutting-edge technology for teaching local schoolchildren about bus safety.

Gus the Bus is amobile preschool classroom sponsored by Smart Beginnings and United Way. Each bus stop is packed with 90-minutes of activities for children up to five-years-old.
