Grzegorz Braun, a pro-Russian member of Poland's lower chamber of parliament – the Sejm – filled the parliament lobby with spray from a fire extinguisher that he used to put out the candles.

Grzegorz Braun's actions sparked a global outcry. He used a fire extinguisher to douse the candles on the menorah after a lighting ceremony in parliament, filling the room with white mist.

“The excesses of MEP Grzegorz Braun, which point to suspected criminal acts, are not going unanswered by the prosecution,” Justice Minister and Prosecutor General Adam Bodnar said in a statement.
