ST. LOUIS — The purchases of new city Sheriff Alfred Montgomery have attracted a lot of attention in recent weeks: There were new lobbyists, then golf carts, then a new take-home SUV.

STURGIS — Old badges from the Meade County Sheriff’s Office will be repurposed and used to raise money for charity, Chief Deputy James Johns said Tuesday.

But this year, for the first time, the Garland County Sheriff's Office will be joining the Battle of the Badge, "making it even more competitive, even more fun to watch," she said.
