So, in 1977, Ford decided it was time to make a change to the engines in those vehicles, and after years of development, they introduced the Ford Essex V6 engine in 1982.

The engine is the second generation of Ford’s Ecoboost V6. It’s built in Cleveland. A high-output version will power the F-150 Raptor off-road racing truck that goes on sale later in the year.
