Esteemed professor of literature, history, philosophy and cultural studies Florentino Hornedo passed away Wednesday morning in Batanes at the age of 77.

Florentino Hornedo, a scholar on Ivatan folk literature, was honored with the Timpalak Hornedo, a literary competition of writing and singing the traditional laji, in Basco, Batanes, on April 8.
