A South Florida developer has closed on an assemblage of land in Citrus Park, including 11 acres that belonged to Big Cat Rescue, where it plans to build over 300 apartments. Palm Beach Gardens-based Ram Realty Advisors paid $10.145 million for 23 acres and an easement south of The Plaza at Citrus Park, Hillsborough County property records show.

A Eureka Springs animal sanctuary is welcoming a bunch of animals into its new habitat. The Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge (TCWR) says it is bringing in all 33 big cats from Big Cat Rescue, an animal sanctuary based in Tampa,

The property was originally established as “Wildlife on Easy Street” by Don Lewis. After his apparent disappearance in 1997, his wife, Baskin took over the operation and renamed it Big Cat Rescue. Baskin later married Howard Baskin, who appears alongside her in “Tiger King.”

In preprepation to sell the Big Cat Rescue property near Citrus Park Mall, owners Howard and Carole Baskin transferred their animals to Turpentine Creek in 2023.
