The veteran Korean film, TV and stage actor died Sunday following a cancer recurrence diagnosis in November 2024.

Lee Joo-sil, a longtime TV actress who had roles in “Squid Game” and “Train to Busan,” died on Sunday. She was 81 years old. According to her agency, via South Korean media reports, Lee went into cardiac arrest on Sunday morning and was pronounced dead at the hospital after three months of fighting stomach cancer.

Lee Joo Sil died on February 2, 2025, at the age of 81, at her family home. Her illustrious acting career spanned decades and included revolutionary roles in both film and theatre.
