(Reuters) -A fire that broke out at an assisted living facility for the elderly near Boston on Sunday night killed at least nine people and injured 30 others, authorities said. About 70 people lived at the Gabriel House assisted living facility in Fall River,
Nine people have been displaced following an early morning fire in South Boston. According to Boston Fire, around 3:30 a.m., crews were called to 121 Marine Rd for reports of a fire. Upon arrival, firefighters saw fire on the first floor.
The deadliest fire in the state's history was Boston's Cocoanut Grove nightclub in 1942. The club was located downtown, in Bay Village, at 17 Piedmont St. Around 1,000 patrons were enjoying the Cocoanut Grove on the Saturday after Thanksgiving that year when the inferno erupted. In that historic fire on Nov. 28, 1942, 490 people were killed.
