Memphis Grizzlies center Zach Edey could miss the start of the 2025-26 NBA season because of an ankle injury. The Grizzlies announced Saturday that Edey re-sprained his ankle during training this week, causing excessive ligamentous laxity, which will require surgery.

While his injury comes as a huge blow, the Grizzlies confirmed via social media on Tuesday that, following imaging that revealed excessive ligament laxity, Edey underwent surgery to stabilize his left ankle. He is expected to be sidelined for four months, with the extent of his recovery to be evaluated following that period.
